The Ukraine Project
The project presents the life of Ukrainian society– a fleeting and uncertain reality shaped by rapid social, economic, and political change. The photographs capture moments that are already vanishing, much like a world on the edge of irreversible transformation. The enduring legacy of the USSR is being gradually erased, though unevenly and at different paces. Yet this fragile process unfolds under increasingly difficult conditions, as the war that has raged since 2014 steadily worsens everyday life and continues to devastate Ukraine. Against this backdrop, the images reveal both the vulnerability and the resilience of a society that continues to seek its place between past and future.
The photographs for the series were taken between 2015 and 2025.
Projekt Ukraina
Projekt opowiada o życiu ukraińskiego społeczeństwa – o rzeczywistości kruchej i niepewnej, kształtowanej przez gwałtowne przemiany społeczne, gospodarcze i polityczne. Fotografie pokazują codzienność, która już odchodzi, niczym świat stojący na progu nieodwracalnej zmiany. Dziedzictwo Związku Radzieckiego stopniowo zanika – w różnym tempie i z rozmaitą intensywnością – lecz proces ten toczy się w coraz trudniejszych warunkach. Wojna, trwająca nieprzerwanie od 2014 roku, z każdym rokiem coraz dotkliwiej niszczy Ukrainę i dramatycznie pogarsza warunki życia. Społeczeństwo nieustannie poszukuje swojego miejsca pomiędzy przeszłością a przyszłością.
